Costley & Costley is owned and managed by the Costley family who all share a passion for creating the finest food experience delivered to the highest standards.

Bill Costley is the Chairman and proprietor of Ayrshire’s largest privately owned hotel company. His first venture, a wine bar in Prestwick opened in 1985 and now the Costley family run a group of eleven successful businesses. The Costley & Costley Group is a major employer in Ayrshire with nearly 600 people working for the group during peak season.

From a young man working as a chef Bill became a Master Chef at the age of 21 and the first Scotsman to win a gold medal at the Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt. Bill was a keen competitor in his younger years and won numerous medals and trophies for his culinary skills. In later life Bill and his wife Cath set up the businesses and continued to win awards through business life. Bill also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Scottish Licensed Trade Association in recognition of his work in the industry.

Bill is regarded as an entrepreneur who came from humble very beginnings. He has built a successful hospitality empire with the help and support of his family and over the last 26 years of business, the Costleys have invested over £20m in Ayrshire and show no sign of slowing down.

The flagship of The Costley & Costley Group is Lochgreen House Hotel, Troon which has recently been awarded 5 stars and holds 3 Red Rosettes for its outstanding cuisine. The Costley & Costley motto, as depicted on the entrance gates to Lochgreen House, reads 'Ad Virtutem Nitens', which translates as 'the pursuit of excellence'. It is this pursuit which underlies our daily endeavour to exceed the expectations of each of our guests.
